From
Apr. 30 to May. 2 of 1995, professionals and experts
from the Research Institute of Beijing University organized
a 3-day visit to the Miaofeng Mountain in search for
its significant role in forming the Chinese folk culture.
The investigation group was joined by several domestic
well-known experts on Chinese traditional culture such
as Gu Jigang, Sun Fuyuan, Rong Geng, Rong Zhaozu, Zhang
Shangyan. They collected a lot of valuable information
and summarized them up with their perceptive comments
into articles, which rose a series of hot discussions
in the academic field. The articles received high comments
from many authoritative figures in related fields, including
buddism scholars, sociologist, artists and psychologist.
In
1928, these 29 articles were collected into one book
named "Miaofeng Mountian" and published nationwide
to let more people know about this beautiful place.
The publication marked the beginning of folklore study
in China. From then on, Miaofeng Mountain got its reputated
name as the originated place of Chinese folk culture.
From May 17 to 19 of 1999, four domestic first grade
universities, composing Yanjing University, Beijing
University, Tsinghua University and Zhongshan University,
jointly conducted an investigation activity to Miaofeng
Mountain and shot a great number of valuable pictures.
In
May of 1995, the first China Fork Culture Academic Seminar
was held in Miaofeng Mountain. Thousands of scholars
from all over the country
congregated there to exchange their views on the development
of Chinese folk culture. Some constructive opinions
were put into words and published in the book called
"Miaofeng Mountain--Evolution of Folklore in the
21st Century".
In
1998, Professor Wu Xiaoyun from Beijing Normal University
finished his graduation paper titled with "the
Fragrant Mountain Study Organization and the Religious
Belief on Bixia God in Miaofeng Mountain". Not
only in China, academicians in foreign countries also
showed their great interest on studying the culture
development of Miaofeng Mountain.
